Keep your home address private with a UK registered office address

A professional London registered office that keeps your home address off the public record and your statutory post handled.

If you run your company from home, your home address sits on the public Companies House register for anyone to find, including data brokers and cold callers. Our registered office address service replaces it with a professional UK address, so your home stays private. Every UK limited company and LLP has to show a registered office, and since 2024 it must be an "appropriate address" where post is received and acted on. We give you that address for Companies House, HMRC and your correspondence, scan or forward your statutory post the same working day, and your named qualified accountant flags anything that needs a reply.

What's the difference between a registered office, a director's service address and a trading address?

These three addresses sound similar but do different jobs, and mixing them up is how a home address ends up on the public record. Our service gives you a professional address for the registered office and the director's service address, so neither your company nor its officers have to use a home address. Here is how the three compare:

AddressWhat it isOn the public register?
Registered officeYour company's official address, where Companies House and HMRC send statutory post.Yes
Director's service addressThe correspondence address for each director, secretary, LLP member and PSC.Yes
Trading addressWhere you actually work, or receive goods and customers. No, unless you choose to show it
SAIL address (optional)A Single Alternative Inspection Location, where you can keep your statutory registers instead of at the registered office.Yes

What are the rules for a valid registered office address?

A registered office is not just any address. Companies House sets clear rules, and getting them wrong can put your company at risk of being struck off.

  • It must be in the UK, and in the same part of the UK where your company was incorporated. A company set up in England and Wales has to keep its registered office in England and Wales, not move it to Scotland or Northern Ireland.
  • Since March 2024 it must be an "appropriate address". That means post delivered there can be acknowledged with confirmation of delivery, and a real person sees and acts on it. A Royal Mail PO Box on its own no longer qualifies. Your company must also give Companies House an appropriate email address, which is never shown publicly.
  • If Companies House decides your address is not appropriate, it can replace it with a default address and begin striking your company off the register.

Our address meets every part of this test. It is a real, staffed UK office, post is acknowledged and acted on the day it arrives, and your named accountant makes sure your filing is correct.

Our expertise covers

What's included in our registered office address service?

  • 01

    Companies House registered office

We provide a verified UK address you can file as your company's registered office at Companies House, replacing your home or trading address on the public register. It meets the post-2024 'appropriate address' rules: post can be acknowledged and a real person acts on it. So you won't risk the registrar stepping in to strike off a company that fails the test.

  • 02

    Director's service address

Every officer, each director, company secretary, LLP member and person with significant control (anyone who owns or controls more than 25% of the company), has a service (correspondence) address on the public record too. We supply that address for each one alongside the registered office, keeping every officer's residential address out of the Companies House search and away from data brokers, marketing lists and anyone who looks your company up.

  • 03

    HMRC and government mail handling

We receive and process your statutory post: HMRC letters on Corporation Tax, VAT, PAYE and self assessment, Companies House confirmation statement (CS01) reminders, and court or tribunal documents. Each item is opened, scanned and uploaded to your portal, or forwarded by post if you prefer, with deadline-sensitive items escalated to your accountant straight away.

  • 04

Mail forwarding service: same-day scan and forward

Genuine business mail is digitised and in your inbox the working day it lands, so you act on tax notices and client correspondence without waiting for the post. Routine items are batched and forwarded; we filter out unsolicited junk so you only deal with what matters. You choose scan-only, forward-only, or both.

  • 05

Identity verification and ACSP filing support

Identity verification became a legal requirement on 18 November 2025 under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, with existing directors verifying during a 12-month transition. Every director and person with significant control must verify, and when they do, Companies House issues a personal code, a unique ID that links them to the companies they run. As your Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP), a Companies House authorised agent, we guide you through GOV.UK One Login verification and confirm your registered office is appropriate, so your filings aren't rejected or queried.

  • 06

Business address service for banking and trade

Use the address on your website, invoices, email footer, Google Business Profile and bank application to present a settled professional presence rather than a residential street. It is not a trading address for goods deliveries, but it gives suppliers, lenders and customers a consistent point of contact and removes your home from public-facing paperwork.

Can I change my registered office address to yours?

Yes, and it is straightforward. You can change your registered office at any time, and Companies House does not charge a fee to do it. We file the change for you on form AD01, and the new address takes effect as soon as Companies House registers it, usually within a day or two online.

The one limit is jurisdiction: you can move your registered office anywhere within the same part of the UK your company was incorporated in, but not across to another, such as England and Wales to Scotland. As your Authorised Corporate Service Provider, we handle the filing, update your details and start receiving your statutory post straight away, so nothing is missed in the switch.

Why it pays off

Why choose Zmartly for your registered office?

  • Keep your home address private

Companies House still publishes your name, nationality and the month and year of your birth, but your full home address and day of birth stay on the private register, not the public one. Using our address keeps your home off the public record, off your website and out of the hands of data brokers and cold callers. Privacy is the number one reason owner-managed companies use a registered office address service, and it costs far less than leasing an office.

  • Stay compliant with the new rules

The 2024-25 changes mean an inappropriate registered office can trigger striking-off action, and unverified directors face filing restrictions. We handle the 'appropriate address' requirement and walk you through identity verification, so your company stays in good standing without you tracking the rule changes.

  • Never miss an HMRC or court deadline

Statutory post is opened and reviewed the day it arrives, with anything time-critical, a tax assessment, a penalty notice, a court claim, escalated to your named accountant. You get a 72-hour reply guarantee on queries, so deadlines are caught early rather than discovered late.

  • One accountant, fixed monthly price

Your registered office address service sits with the same qualified accountant who handles your accounts and tax, on rolling monthly fixed pricing from £129 to £499 a month with no long tie-in. We work in Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent and Sage, and back everything with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

  • A credible, lasting business presence

A professional address on your letterhead, banking forms and online listings signals stability to clients and lenders. If you move home or change premises, your public-facing address stays the same, so you update Companies House once with us rather than refiling every time your circumstances change.

Who uses a registered office address service?

A registered office service suits anyone who would rather not put a home address on the public record, or who needs a credible UK presence. We act for:

  • Home-based owners and contractors who run a company from their house and want privacy.
  • Non-UK residents who need a UK registered office to run a UK company from overseas.
  • Startups and new companies that want a settled, professional address from day one.
  • Established companies switching from a home address, an old accountant's address, or a serviced office they have left.
  • LLPs, whose members also need their addresses kept off the public record.

Whichever you are, a named, qualified accountant manages your registered office address service and the post behind it.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions.

Your registered office is published on the public Companies House register and visible to anyone with an internet connection, including bailiffs, claimants and unsolicited marketing. Using a service address keeps your home address private, gives the business a credible UK presence, and ensures statutory mail is opened the day it arrives rather than sitting in a hallway while you are away.

Official post from Companies House, HMRC, courts, and other statutory bodies is opened, scanned, and emailed to you the same business day. Marketing mail is filtered out. Original documents are held for 30 days and forwarded on request, or destroyed if you confirm scanning is enough. There is no per-item handling fee within reasonable volumes.

Yes, and we recommend it. Director service addresses are also public on Companies House, using the registered office address for both keeps every director's home address off the public record. The single annual fee covers the registered office and unlimited director service addresses for the same company.

Yes, this is one of the most common use cases. Non-UK residents who incorporate a UK company need a UK registered office by law, and using our central London address gives the company the credible UK presence that banks, suppliers, and clients expect, without the cost of leasing physical space.

Annual fee for the registered office and director service addresses, billed yearly. No long contract, so you can move the address back to your own premises or to another provider at any time by filing AD01 with Companies House. Virtual phone numbers and trading address services are optional add-ons.

You can legally use your home address as your registered office, but once it is filed it appears on the public register for anyone to search, including data brokers and cold callers. If your home address is already showing, you can apply on form SR01 to suppress it from public view, and we can handle that for you. One catch: Companies House cannot remove an address that has been used as your registered office until you change the registered office first, which is exactly what we do. Switching to our address keeps your home off the record from then on.

Not quite, and that is deliberate. Full virtual office services usually bundle phone answering, hot-desking and meeting rooms, often with add-on charges. Our service is the part that actually satisfies Companies House: a registered office and director service address, with your statutory mail handled, managed by your accountant. If you only need a professional business address (what many people search for as a virtual office address) and your statutory post handled properly, this is the focused, accountancy-led version of a registered office address service, without the coworking extras.

Since the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, every director and person with significant control must verify their identity. You will need photo ID such as a passport or UK driving licence, and we will confirm a few personal details. We guide you through GOV.UK One Login, or verify you as your Authorised Corporate Service Provider, so your filings are not held up.

We charge a single annual fee for the registered office and unlimited director service addresses on the same company, with no per-item mail charge within normal volumes. It is a cheap, fixed alternative to leasing premises, and it sits inside our wider accountancy plans from a fixed monthly fee. We keep the registered office address service simple: one price, no setup cost, cancel any time.
